Samsung's 110-inch ultra HD TV

Samsung has reportedly rolled out a 110-inch ultra HD TV for a price tag of 1, 50,000 dollars in South Korea.
The U-HD TV, also known as 4K, is touted to have four times the resolution of standard high-definition TV, and it marks the way for the electronics giant towards ultra HD TVs as manufacturing bigger TVs using OLED proves too expensive.
According to CBS News, despite Samsung and rival LG Electronics predicting OLED screens as the future of TV, both the electronics manufacturers failed to mass produce OLED TVs as a mainstream that would replace the standard LCD.
The report said that the demand for U-HD TVs is expected to rise despite dearth of content while its price will likely come down faster than that of the OLED TVs.

TOSHIBA P2305

Price: Rs 39,000
Specs: 39 inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080); 2 x HDMI; PC input; optical audio out; Cricket Mode; 10w x 2 speaker; built in sound bar; USB; ambient light sensor

If you are a sports fanatic and love soccer, cricket or even golf; anything that has a green grass field, you should consider this. Toshiba has made what it calls the 'World's First Cricket TV, co-created with Sachin Tendulkar'.

CRICKET TV:
The company claims the 'Cricket Mode' on the TV reveals fast action motion better and has a brightness which enhances the contours and sharpness of objects. The cricket ball and the pitch are more distinct and the grass is seen in its natural texture. The Toshiba cricket series has an Active Motion Rate image-processing technology that increases the panel refresh rate and the video processing speed which in turn reduce motion blur. We tested this by playing the GTA IV and Company of Heroes 2. Motion blur and picture loss are comparatively low.

DESIGN: You notice small cosmetic changes right away. The Toshiba logo has been moved from centre of the bezel to the bottom left of the sound bar underneath the bezel. The sound bar also has a ring on the right side which illuminates when the power is on. Although this had us confused at first, all it does is tell you your TV is on. One thing that makes the Toshiba Cricket Series TV stand out is Sachin Tendulkar's signature on the TV.

SOUND: The slim silver sound bar is packed with 20W (2 X 10) audio output. The Audio Distortion Control (ADC) minimises sound distortion when the volume is high by suppressing the distortion of individual frequencies. There is also a Spectrum Analyser that shows audio reproduction at different frequencies and amplitude levels through a graphic display.

VIDEO QUALITY: The 39" P2305 is a Full HD TV with 1920 X 1080 resolution. The blacks are deeper and the colour contrast is sharp. The TV uses 3D colour management to create an image balance, and reproduces high colour quality. The HD videos looked nothing short of stunning, enhanced immensely by the TV's deep blacks and balanced colours.

CONNECTIVITY:
There are multiple connectivity options like the USB plug and play that supports 28 movie formats, 2 Composite video ins, a single PC in and an LR Audio out. But the TV has only 2 HDMI ports which is a bit of a disappointment. Most other TVs come with 3 or more HDMI ports to connect your set top box, blu-ray player and an additional third device.
AOC 23-inch Razor 3D LED TV

Price: Rs 19,900
Bag it or junk it: An excellent 3D experience on a bright full HD display.
Specs: 23-inch 3D LED, 1920 x 1080 pixels, dual 5W speakers, dual HDMI, VGA, component, USB port, passive 3D, multimedia playback, 3.6 kg.
-Dream Surround Sound is just average
-3D viewing angle is limited

Call it what you like, "the world's smallest 3D TV" or a computer monitor, the AOC Razor 3D LED TV is a great catch at its price -  Rs 19,990. It uses passive 3D technology which eliminates the need for those batterypowered active shutter 3D glasses which can be a pain to wear. The box comes with four pairs of passive 3D glasses that let you enjoy multiple hours of viewing 3D content.

Setting up the TV is easy. The Full HD screen produces sharp colours and high contrasts and the images appear natural. The 3D images have enjoyable depth but only while viewed from fairly close quarters.

There is a direct 3D key on the remote to convert and watch 2D content with 3D effects. But the experience is truly enjoyable only with real 3D content. The TV is equipped with Dream Surround Sound that claims to create an immersive sound with rich bass but it appeared only average.

It has a USB port on the side that can be used to play multimedia content. The refresh rate is acceptable and it can play heavy 3D games with ease.
