Bag it or junk it: Great results, but as costly as a DSLR
- The build quality does not make it feel cheap
- The tablet runs Android Jelly Bean

Micromax's Canvas series now includes an 8-inch tablet with calling. Open the black box and the first thing that will catch your attention is the extra tablet cover. The tablet slides into the plastic transparent case and this adds to the overall weight. A flip cover, that seems inspired by the original iPad case, is attached to this.

This case has ridges that can be folded at particular angles to become a stand for holding the tablet in landscape mode. Very thoughtful indeed.

The tablet has ports and buttons on the top and right. The built quality is sturdy and does not feel like cheap plastic. It powers on to the regular Android interface. Images and text don't appear all that sharp on this 1024x768p display. So the multimedia experience is also very average.

The tab comes with the regular set of apps. It has free trial games and some preloaded apps like Kingsoft Office, plus Micromax security and a curated Micormax app store. This tab running Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean) has got a 1.2Ghz quad-core chipset from MediaTek with 1GB RAM. It comes with an internal storage of 16GB and supports an expandable memory of 32GB.

It handles most of the operations smoothly but we noticed slight lag when heavy graphic apps are launched. At times, the screen response was slow. The 5MP rear camera was just about average. We got close to six hours of battery life on a single charge.
