Nokia Lumia 720

The Good: Nokia Lumia 720 comes with the best of stellar media performance and good quality battery life. The device may look the same as others in the series, but its feel and performance is unique.

The Bad: Lumia 720 houses 512 MB of RAM which is insufficient for a good gaming experience. Though there is a 4.3 inch screen, it is not good in terms of pixel density (which is 217 ppi) as compared to Lumia 620’s 3.8 inch display (which has 246 ppi), resulting in the lack of sharpness and clarity.

The Bottom Line: Nokia Lumia 720 has a superb design for good grip. It boasts of a powerful battery life and offers distinctive performance as compared to other Lumia series.

Design: Sporting a distinctive plastic finish, Lumia 720’s unibody has a strong build of gloss and matt finish with a choice of five colours – red, blue, yellow, black and white. The well balanced handset offers a comfortable hold, weighing 128 grams overall.

Processor and Operating System: Powered by a Qualcomm MSM8227 processor that runs at a speed of 1GHz, the laid back issue is to do with the RAM which is of 512GB instead of 1GB. Games like Temple Run, Asphalt and Modern Combat don’t even show up on the app store due to insufficient RAM.

The device runs on Windows Phone 8 operating system like other Nokia Lumia devices.

Screen: The 4.3 inch display with IPS technology that supports 800 x 480 pixels resolution is dominated by a slab of glass for complete protection. Another feature of the screen is that users can wear gloves and operate it without any hindrances.

Battery Life: Flaunting with a good battery life as its advantage, Lumia 720 houses a 2000 mAh battery fixed to the system. The Smartphone reckons around 520 hours of standby time and an approximate 79 hours of music playback, with 23 hours of talk time on 2G and 13 hours on 3G.

Camera: Lumia 720’s back panel features a 6.1 megapixel camera with wide angle lens that supports 2848 x 2144 pixels resolution. The front panel has a 1.3 megapixel snapper which has been upgraded from a VGA in previous series like Lumia 820. The Carl Zeiss optics manages to capture pretty good shots. Video recording supports 720 pixels.

Storage and Connectivity: The Smartphone is well equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and A-GPS. 2G, 3G, USB and NFC are other connectivity features offered.

Price and availability: The Smartphone is officially available for Rs.18,999 on online retail stores.

Wrap-up: Lumia 720 has made a grand comeback with good performance. Though the RAM is insufficient, the Smartphone’s design gives s good feel for users with commendable battery life and performance.
